Keilir | Campus

Students and their families create the growing community at Ásbrú (where Keilir is located) along with the diverse operation of growth companies and entrepreneurs in Eldey and the multiple operation of business in the area.

Eldey

Eldey is a 3.300 m2 Entrepreneur- and Energy Center at Grænásbraut 506 in Ásbrú. Eldey is a co-project of Keilir, The Icelandic center of Inovation, The university of Iceland and Keflavík Airport Development Corporation (Þróunarfélag Keflavíkurflugvallar). The aim is to create a knowledge center, facility and surroundings for entrepreneurs that enables them to develop their ideas and offers the service they need. Eldey also houses some Growth Companies and Entrepreneurs for IMPRA and NMÍ and some of Keilir´s teaching takes place in the building.

Keilir, Atlantic Center of Excellence is developing an educational community on the site of the former US Military Air-Base in Keflavik. Today the habitants at the educational community Campus are approximately 1800 living in 700 apartments at the Student Housing (Háskólagarðar). The monthly rental price is favorable and all students are allegeable for rentals as long as they fulfill the academic qualifications. Internet access and transportation between the Student Housing and other universities in Reykjavik are included in the monthly rental.

Campus

The Ásbrú Campus community is well suited for individuals as well as families. On-site there is an elementary school, playschool, good facilities for outdoor activities, playgrounds for the children and open places for barbeque. There is an excellent restaurant on Campus, hair salon, bars and a coffee-house is within reach. All other services are close by in Reykjanesbaer where you can access shopping centers, restaurants, bars, shops and other services as well as athletic facilities and other entertainment for children and adults. You can buy all necessities at a supermarket which is located on the Campus as well as a fitness center and a sport center.  The campus is located next to Keflavik International Airport and is also a 30 minute drive from to the capital city center. 

Keilir is in charge of Ásbrú Campus. Its role is to offer students at Keilir and other universities convenient and well-placed housing at a fair price. The housing comes in all sizes. There are one person apartments and apartments for two individuals, apartments for couples, and family apartments with one, two, three or four bedrooms. All rooms/apartments have high speed internet connection.  The wide range of apartments differs from 36m², 55m², 95m², 120m² and all up to 190m² all according to each and every need.  We offer this wide range of rooms for foreign students in a comfortable and well equipped houses located in the center of the Campus.

Available Accommodation

Well furnished rooms. Good spacious bedrooms. Bed linen is provided.  The houses and rooms are all non-smoking.  Many apartments have walk-in closets, a storage room and kitchen with all appliances, refrigerator, stove, oven and dishwasher and bathroom with a bathtub.  Also many apartments have laundry rooms with washer and dryer. Included is access to everything that the houses offer.  In the common area is a sitting room with TV, recreation room and a small gym open for residence. Shared facilities are cleaned weekly. In the common area there is often a large assembly room.
