How do I apply for an apartment?
You need to fill out the application form on our website. You can find a link to the application form here.
Do I need to be a student to be allegeable for student housing at Vallarheidi?
Yes, the requirement is that you are a student in order to be able to be allegeable for student housing. Applicants also need to be at least 20 years old, the only exemption is if you are
already a university student at the age of 18 years.
What happens after I have applied?
If you do not get an apartment allocated soon after applying you will need to log on to the student housing web between the 1st and the 5th of every month in order to confirm the application.
When you have been allocated an apartment you will need to confirm the allocation through the student housing web and come to the Keilir offices within two days to sign the lease contract. If this
procedure is not followed the applicant might lose the allocation.
Can I apply for a smaller or a larger apartment within the area?
You can submit an application to move within the area when you are already a lessee. In order to do so you will need to fill out the application form online like you did in the beginning. A fee
of kr. 10.000,- will be charged for moving within the area. We will try our best to fulfill the wishes of the applicant.
How do I submit a request for necessary services and repairments to be made at my apartment?
When you signed your lease you should have received a username and password to use at the student housing web. You will need to login to the website go to “my page” and fill out a
request form for services and repairments. You can not submit a request for services or repairments via phone or at the Keilir offices.
How do I access the Student housing web?
You can find a link to the Student Housing web on the top of the Keilir homepage. You need to login with the username and password you received when you signed your contract.
I have lost my username/password, how do I obtain a new one?
Please send an e-mail with your name and social security number (kennitala) to: mottaka@keilir.net and we will send you a new username/password shortly.
How do I give notice on my apartment?
A lessee needs to login in to the Student Housing web in order to give notice on his/her apartment. There is a three months notice according to all lease contracts.
Do the tenants need to clean the joint community in the buildings?
A weekly cleaning service is included in the fee that a lessee pays for the housing fund.
Can I have pets in my apartment?
Pets are allowed in buildings nr. 1232, 1233, 1234 and 1109-01. In all other buildings the law on pets in apartment building applies, that means that a lessee who wished to have their pet with
then in the building needs to have a signed agreement from all other tenants in their building. All pet owners need to register their pets at the Heilbrigðiseftirlit Suðurnesja and then
return a copy of the registration at the Keilir offices.
