The following items need to be cleaned before returning an apartment

Rooms

• Windows
• Curtains and blinds
• Stains of the walls
• Closets and shelves, inside and outside
• Furniture (if any)
• Curtain rod

Walk in closet

• Shelves and drawers
• Vacuum cleaner
• Mirror

Storage room

• Shelves
• Floors
• Stains of the walls

Bathroom

• Bathtub, mixer taps and the walls around the bathtub.
• Cabinets and shelves (inside, outside and on top), the mirror.
• Sink, mixer taps and the toilet

Kitchen

• Cabinets, drawers and shelves (inside, outside and on the top)
• Stove
• Microwave, inside and outside, under and on top.
• Fridge, inside and outside. You also need to clean behind the fridge.
• Defrost the fridge and the freezer if necessary
• Table and chairs
• Stains on the walls
• Curtain rods

You also need clean all the floors (vacuum and clean with soap if necessary) as well as clean the floor lists and the doors.

When returning the apartment you need to return the following items:

• All keys of the apartment
• Two mailbox keys
• The router, tvbox, remote controls and cables.

Cancellation of the leasing contract

If you have had the leasing contract notarized you will need to have it cancelled at the Sýslumanns offices in Keflavík. The contract needs to be picked up at the city hall where you have  your registered residence, it then needs to be stamped and cancelled at the Keilir offices before being cancelled at the Sýslumanns offices in Keflavík.

The Router and tv box

It is strictly forbidden to remove the router, tvbox and  all other accessories connected to the internet and tv equipment. This rule applies when you are moving away from the area or within the area. If the equipment is removed from the apartment the lessee can expect to be charged for the equipment.
