Guidelines for Poster Presentation

Please check in with the Poster Desk upon arrival early Wednesday morning 15 September for information on putting up posters. Posters can also be courier mailed to the Conference Secretary in advance.

Components of the poster
Posters should include a title, names of authors and their addresses, abstract, introduction materials and methods, results, discussion (or a combined results and discussion), conclusion, acknowledgments (if any), references, tables, and figures.

Hints for preparing a good poster
Poster area is: 1,0 meter wide x 1,4 meter high – vertical portrait format. Careful design is needed. Remember: The poster is a visual display. The organization and flow of the poster needs to be very clear. Visually subordinate those things that are less important and draw attention to those of greater importance. Make clear sequence in which the poster is to be viewed. Keep explanatory text close to the figure it is explaining. Group related information together, and make the groupings clear. Show as well as tell the story. Tables and figures should be a main component of a successful poster. Do not use extensive text.

Make the poster accessible to browsers. Use a simple font. A mix of caps and lower case is easier to read than all caps. The title should be legible from 4 meters away. It should be assertive, clear, and catch the eye of the viewer.

Main headings carry the essential content and should provide a complete take-home message and be visible at 1.5 meter. Supporting text follows the main headings and should be visible at 1 meter. Concisely state the main conclusion. Be sure your contact information is placed on your poster.  You may bring with you printed copies of the poster to be hanged in an envelope below the poster.

Guidelines for E-Posters Presentation

The Electronic Poster is a PowerPoint Slide Show presentation, continuously looping on  a TV screen in the poster area of the conference hall. These posters shall consist of no more than 10 pages / slides and have a running time of maximum 120 seconds per poster. Sound effects are not allowed.

To ensure the smooth running of the poster sessions, we require the completed e-poster presentation to be handed in or e-mailed as a ppt-file to no later than Tuesday 14 September 2010. Each e-poster must have a title page listing the title, author(s) names and affiliations. The Conference Organizing Committee will provide the continuously looping of few “posters” together per large TV screen.
